Black Girls International
Background
Black Girls International (BGI) is committed to the overall development of girls globally through leadership, education, culture, and sisterhood. They are an organization whose ethos is based in the belief that girls can lead international development and social change when they have the network and resources to thrive.
Research
To initiate the branding process, the client team filled out a questionnaire that provided insights into their mission, challenges, and target program participants. I inquired about their preferences and sources of inspiration, which guided the market research informing the creation of their overall visual identity.
Challenge
During the project's initial stages, the client team had conflicting opinions about visual preferences, posing a challenge in achieving cohesion without resorting to clichés. By fostering open communication, offering strategic advice, and embracing feedback, I nurtured a trusting partnership with the client, allowing for candid discussions and creative flexibility.
Approach
The completed visual identity featured a striking yet approachable color palette, complemented by a string motif woven throughout various assets. This motif was intended to symbolize the interconnectedness among program participants, akin to the lines of a map.
